It’s been several weeks since the new normal. Staying home and avoiding contact is encouraged. For some it’s a great way to detox and reevaluate our lives, while others are experiencing extreme withdrawals. Unable to travel, vacation, go out to eat, even get a simple haircut, everything cancelled. In the beginning, I went through withdrawal, and then I sat there and started to take advantage of all of the time I have with my loved ones and myself. Maybe this is God’s way of giving us time to care for ourselves.
How many of us sit at home and practice self-care?
I took this opportunity to book home facials which never ended up happening, I did my first Instagram live, and then I went back to wonder how can I fix my skin during this time? I reached out to my facialist, Jessica Daboul, and asked her if she was doing anything special, or DIY for her customers.

SKYNN
For those of you who don’t know Jessica, she’s an experienced and highly recommended facialist/make-up artist in the Houston area. I met Jessica randomly when I was searching for a make-up artist back in 2015, since then we have remained friends and she is one of the only people I trust with my face. She has her own business named SKYNN, specializing in everything in skin from head to toe. She has been a licensed Esthetician since 2009 and is certified and licensed to perform the services below.
- Facials
- Waxing
- Threading
- Chemical Peels
- Dermaplaning
- Micro needling
- Spray Tan
- Lash Lifting
- Lamprobing
- Ear-piercings
Jessica is known more for her “deep cleansing facials”. What I needed more than anything at this time was a Chemical peel. She told me she was putting together DIY facial kits and would put something together for me as well.
I know Jessica so I knew she would guide me through the process correctly and in a very detailed way. So here I am sitting at home and I receive my Chemical Peel kit. I immediately wanted to get started and get my skin what it desperately needed, a reset!
8-STEP PROCESS
Jessica walked me through the entire 8 step process on FaceTime. She would stop me if she felt I wasn’t swiping the gauze in the correct direction or if I had missed a part of my face. This is why I absolutely love her! She pays such close attention to detail and wants her clients to have the best possible experience.
If you are at home and you want a simple facial and are missing that facialist experience, I highly recommend you reach out to Jessica. Her Instagram handle is @skynnbyjd.
After my facial and Facetime with Jessica, I felt so refreshed! It’s a way to connect with your daily SKYNN routine via technology, so don’t take this time for granted. Do things for yourself that you wouldn’t have time to do. Between work, galas, and regular friends hang outs I never made time for my skin. Well, I did it!
