The Power Edition

This winter’s edition was named “The Power Edition” with the fabulous Hallie Vanderhider as the feature story.  Whether you are a woman or a man, she inspires you to do your absolute best and stay humbled.  She is a super woman who has held an incredible resume to match her beautiful heart.  She’s on the board of many charities and still makes time for her son.  Now this is what I am talking about when I say, “doing it all”.  Congratulations Hallie!

Favorite Section

There are so many admirable people featured in the magazine, but my favorite section was the “Top 10 People of the Year”.  Yes, yes, I am biased because my Husband Rehan was honored for his many accomplishments.  Many may not know but Rehan is probably the First American Pakistani to be named VP of News/ News Director for a US top ten news market.  He is incredibly humble, and you would never know how hard working he is because he always does it with a smile.  Along with Rehan, our friend Abbas Khan was honored for his innovative ideas in strategic marketing, the lovely Sue Habib, one of my favorite people in Houston the fabulous Dr. Alice Mao, and the biggest fashion icon of Houston, Fady Armanious.  Along with them were Dr. Charles Johnson, Steven Devandam, Literacy expert Melissa Williams Murphy, Sai S. Pidatala, and of course the gorgeous former Miss Texas Nicole O’Brian Lassiter.

An Evening to Remember

Here are a few other notable personalities of Houston who showed up; Clifford Pugh, Bill Baldwin, Rania Mankarious of Crime Stoppers, ABC 13’s Miya Shay and Pooja Lodhia, Samantha Holsomback, Sami Khaleeq, Sneha Merchant, Miss Houston Blaine Ochoa, Shannah Quinn, Maha Khan, and Sheekha Khan to name just a few.

I finally got to meet someone who I have been following for years, Beth Muecke of Bethielife.com.  I was nervous walking up to her and introducing myself.  She has been source of inspiration to start my blog.  What an exciting night, I can’t for Ruchi’s next event! Congrats Ruchi on an incredible evening bridging communities and allowing us to be part of your world!

Ruchi’s events are my favorite in the city.  You never know who you are going to meet or run into. She is always so sweet! Thank you Ruchi.
